DEVELOPMENT SQUAD

The Development Squad

The Development Squad is a pathway between Junior Surf participation and competitive surf sport, with a focus on developing ocean skills, fitness, teamwork and confidence — while having fun along the way.

The squad brings together members of different ages and ability levels who are keen to build their skills and take the next step in their surf sport journey. It is particularly suited to Junior Surf members who are confident in the water and ocean environment and are ready to further develop the skills introduced through the Junior Surf programme.

Working alongside our dedicated athlete coaches, members will develop their ocean, board and surf sport skills, improve their fitness and learn what it takes to train and compete as part of a team.

The Development Squad is not solely about competition. It is about building skills, confidence and capability at the right pace for each athlete. For members who demonstrate the confidence, ability and readiness to compete, there may be opportunities to participate in selected ocean carnivals during the season.
