WHANGAMATA SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB

Since 1949 we have provided services to promote, enable and deliver safe, fun coastal recreation at Whangamata and its surrounding beaches. This would not be possible without our family of volunteers, members and sponsors.

Whangamatā Surf Life Saving Club has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Beach Hop since the festival began and has been a grateful recipient of funds raised through the event over the years.

A key part of that connection was our Life Member Richard Scelley, who proudly led the motorcycle parade each year. Through Richard’s involvement, the club opened its doors to host motorbike registrations during the week and on the Saturday of the festival.

Another long-standing tradition has been the club ute leading the Cruise to Onemana from the rugby club on Saturday evening with lights blazing.

In honour of Richard’s commitment to the club and to the wider Whangamatā community, the club proudly continues these traditions, supporting Beach Hop by providing our facilities and the club ute during the festival.

With our wonderful new facilities, Beach Hop is also a great time for members and visitors alike to stop by the club, enjoy the spectacular ocean views from the bar, and take a break from the festival atmosphere.
